Things have been so busy here in Nashville. I was so stagnant for a while, and now I have about a billion projects to work on. We officially have a band put together, and I’m really proud of us because it was not easy starting from scratch. In fact it took about 8 months to finally get everything together. We’ve been working on recording an album (slowly but surely) and it’s sounding pretty groovy. It feels pretty great playing music with/in front of people who have no idea who you are. It’s a completely clean slate. People have been so open minded here musically, and young people seem to know that they don’t have to play “indie” music. That has been such a lovely change!
Bonnie suggested that I start writing a Jesse Ed Davis bio. It started out as a total joke, but with her help it seems pretty do-able. They were very close and she loves/misses him a lot, and wants to do something to honor him. He was like a brother to her. She knows his family, and obviously his endless musical connections throughout the years, so we’ll see. We both really want to do it, and it’s feeling like it just might happen.
This weekend was super busy for us. Simon’s school is winding down and his schedule has been jam packed. He’s hopefully going to move on to an all analog studio once he graduates, and he’s been working really hard at making that happen. So I’ve basically had Ronnie glued to my hip for the last couple weeks, which I don’t usually mind when I have nothing to do, but I’ve been busy busy busy. Bonnie’s in New York recording so I’ve been watching and cleaning her house for her. Right now I feel like I just want to take the longest nap ever, but that’s probably not going to happen…
